Optimal water consumption for laying and broiler chickens

1) Optimal water consumption for layer hens
On average:

1 to 3 week old chicks: About 50–100 ml per day
3 to 6 weeks (growth): 100–150 ml per day
6 to 18 week lead time: 150–200 ml per day
Adult laying hen: 200–300 ml per day (depending on egg production)
Important points:

Laying hens usually consume twice as much water as feed.
In extreme heat (+32 degrees) water consumption increases by up to 40%.
Reducing water supply even for 1 hour can reduce egg production by 10–20%.
2) Optimal water consumption for broilers
On average daily per period:

1 to 7 days old: 50–80 ml
7 to 14 days old: 100–150 ml
14 to 21 days old: 150–250 ml
21 to 28 days old: 250–350 ml
28 days to slaughter (35–42 days): 350–600 ml
Important relationship:

Broilers usually drink 1.6 to 1.7 times more water than feed.

3) Factors affecting water consumption
Be sure to consider these factors:

Temperature: Every 1 degree increase above 21 degrees = about 5% increase in water
Type of waterer: Standard nipple for less and more efficient consumption
Water salinity or hardness: High salinity = high consumption
Food quality: High protein feed = increased water consumption
Diseases (coccidiosis, kidney failure): مصرف را بالا می‌برد
